Privacy Policy
Capture My Life is a private digital legacy journal that helps people preserve memories, photos, videos, voice recordings, transcripts, and keepsakes for the family members they choose.
We know this information can be deeply personal. Our goal is simple: protect your memories, keep you in control of who can see them, and make sure your family can receive the story you choose to leave for them.
Information We Collect
When you use Capture My Life, we may collect or store:
- Account information, such as your name, email address, password credentials, sign-in status, and account settings.
- Journal content you create, such as memory titles, written text, dates, people named in an entry, tags, typed location labels, privacy settings, and release settings.
- Photos, videos, and audio recordings that you add to memories.
- Transcripts generated from your voice recordings or videos, and any edits you make to those transcripts.
- Beneficiary information, such as a beneficiary name, email address, invitation status, and access relationship.
- Export and keepsake information, such as PDF books, ZIP archives, slideshow/presentation exports, export status, and download links.
- Technical information needed to operate the app, such as device/app version, sync status, storage usage, upload status, and basic service logs.
Capture My Life does not sell your personal information.
How We Use Information
We use your information to provide the app, including account access, journal backup, media playback, transcription, beneficiary access, memory exports, shareable pages you create, service emails, support, troubleshooting, security, and reliability.
If you separately choose to receive prompts, product updates, or marketing emails, we may use your email address for those messages. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
Sharing and Visibility
You control the visibility of each memory:
- Private memories are visible only to you, unless you later choose to release them according to app settings.
- Beneficiary memories may be visible to beneficiaries you invite and approve.
- Shareable memories can be viewed by anyone who has the share link.
Shareable links use hard-to-guess tokens, but anyone with the link may be able to view that memory page.
Service Providers
We use trusted service providers to run Capture My Life, including Supabase, Cloudflare, Fly.io, Resend, OpenAI or another Whisper-compatible transcription provider, Expo/EAS, Apple App Store, and Google Play. These providers process information only as needed to provide the app and related services.
Security
Capture My Life uses authentication, access controls, row-level database security, signed upload/download links, and encrypted network connections to protect your information. Your phone also stores a local copy of your journal so memories can be created offline and synced later.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your journal content is kept for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Some content may be soft-deleted first so accidental deletion can be recovered for a limited period.
You may request account deletion and deletion of associated account data through the app or by using the web deletion request page at capturemy.life/delete-account.
Some information may be retained for a limited time when required for legal, security, backup, fraud-prevention, or operational reasons. Export files and backups may take additional time to expire or be removed from all systems.
Children
Capture My Life is intended for adults and families preserving legacy memories. It is not directed to children under 13. Children should not create accounts without involvement and consent from a parent or guardian.
